DRAFT NOTICE TO MEMBERS ABOUT THE LMH AGM

LANCASTER MEN’S HUB – ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – AN APOLOGY

I have received a complaint from a member that this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) is late. This is correct. Our Constitution requires that the latest due date is 23rd August and we need to give 21 days’ notice. Clearly this has not happened.

Although all the trustees have contributed to the production of our TAR and Accounts, as Secretary, it is my responsibility to ensure that such things are delivered on time, so I apologise to you and to my fellow trustees for not doing this.

The date of the AGM will be announced as soon as we are able to do so. Our Trustee Annual Report (TAR) and accounts are with our Independent Examiner and when we have received his report we will be able to fix a date, giving you the necessary 21 days’ notice.

I would like to reassure members that although this lateness is regrettable, it does not put LMH at risk of closure by the Charity Commission. Nor is there any risk of prosecution of the trustees by the regulators. The trustees (who are all volunteers) work as hard as we can to keep LMH running, but occasionally we make mistakes. Sometimes things are delayed because things happen in our own lives.

The likelihood of mistakes would be reduced if we had more trustees and more members of the Planning Committee, so if you are interested in helping to run Lancaster Men’s Hub, please talk to any trustee.
